Cue statements about how I'm "not a real man," but my girlfriend is more combative than I am. I usually try to brush people off when they try to bother me, but my girlfriend gets extremely pissed at those people and usually talks back. She's also pretty good at squishing spiders.
I don't think you're less of a man for it, and good for her for sticking up for you when you don't stick up for yourself. However you need to get more of a backbone. That doesn't mean charging headfirst in to confrontations but atlest being willing to stand up for yourself. That way your girlfriend doesn't hav to do it all the time.
What if somebody takes offence to something she lashed out at them in retaliation and they try to harm her?
What then?
Will you stand up for her and kick some ass?
Will you try to pull her away and calm everybody down rather?
After answering that question, you will know what kind of man you are.
And she's a bitch for killing spiders just by the way.
That doesn't seem like "fighting your battles". That seems like she's more confrontational than you are.
I think a smart man knows when a fight is worth his time or not. So, I would expect one to brush off worthless pests. NOT because he's afraid but because he honestly doesn't care.
Your girlfriend seems to be a bit like me: while YOU may not care what someone says about you because it's not a big deal, she's sticking up for your honor and her man. No one's allowed to talk shit. I find it to be admirable.
My girlfriend would squeal at the sight of a spider or just about any other insect for that matter. Lol
She sounds like a keeper. Knowing how to squish spiders is good as long as she doesn't do it excessively.

Look if you have a women that stands up for you is because she really loves you.
