Is it normal that my gf should have a similair political view?

Hey, I'm currently 18 and turning 19 after around a half year. My only thing is, that I think that a possible GF should have a similiar political view, which is similair to mine. I do not want to talk about politics here, but that might be of interest: The political view which I follow, is commonly spread in Russia, but not so commonly here in Europe.

Your thoughts?

Wouldn't life be boring if your partner ALWAYS agreed with you? Lively (friendly) discussions about things like politics can keep a marriage interesting and fun.
My ex and I would switch sides on an interesting current event sometimes. On the first day she'd argue one way and on the next she take the opposing view. We'd almost always end up rolling on the floor laughing our asses off over the silliness of some subjects.

Well, I agree. I have strong political opinions too and I just could not date someone that is the exact opposite. I´m even starting to have issues being friends with people that aren´t similar ... Struggling to get rid of these feelings because I used to hate people thinking like that.

I believe the general rule is, if you want to stay friends don't talk politics or religion

Oh shit I think you wrote on Kik but I forgot to check, haha!

Anyway; I say that you should be able to discuss this with friends. But yes I have people I wont discuss it with because we are just too different. Currently Sweden is very divided and the debate climate is poisonous as hell.

Aaaactually I would not say that the Sweden Democrats are as bad as Trump, but they are pretty radical and I´ve been supporting them, Sadly we are torn between extremes but normal parties are starting to take action against the ruthless immigration :D
            Things might brighten up.

I highly recommend going to youtube and listening to angry foreigner, he explains things properly.

I couldn't be with someone who is completely on the opposite end of politics as i am, one, cause more than likely, she would be opposite on many more things than just politics, at least from my own experiences with people.

As a mid-western man with a somewhat conservative background, me trying to date a liberal hippie chick from San Francisco would be nothing but trouble.

Its one thing to disagree on a few things, everyone is different, and i wouldn't expect her to be exactly like me, hey, a little variety is nice, but if are so different that you have little to no common ground, how do you expect a relationship to survive?

if everything you say is an argument, thats not a good sign.

Politics is a stupid enough reason to risk losing love.

use your brain, not everybody is the same, but we can all teach each other, be accepting of differing points of view, if only as a challenge, but be proud enough to accept defeat

  • I honestly really don't think it should matter. A couple doesn't have to agree on everything. I wouldn't want to be with someone that had the exact same beliefs as me. That's the beautiful thing about humans is we determine or own thoughts and beliefs on everything. If someone has an opposing view from mine I respectfully accept that.

It should not vary too much! Politics will be a topic at one point, in any relation. You cannot avoid it!

To clearify: I do not have any "belives". You can imagine it like that : Ofcourse you CANNOT and SHOULD NOT agree on all points. But there should be something like that: Both should agree that Hitler was *****, and that Radicalism, left and right is bad. You see what I mean now?

I know what you mean, I would like that too but not a lot of people share my beliefs or if they do, they don't want people to know because it's not a very popular political stance here.

I see, I mean it only needs to be going in the same direction. If there is too much disagreement in that topic "politics", I think a relationship can not last for much. Although if there is some disagreement, not so much, I woulda also accept it.

I understand, I think if there are differences in your beliefs you can just forget about it sometimes, but if there are big fundamental differences it just can't work. For example if I was married with kids and my daughter wanted to be with a black man I would be completely against it and if my wife disagreed I think the marriage couldn't continue.

If you actually had 'beliefs' instead of bullshit, you might find someone, one day. As it is I can understand why you are so jealous that an old shithead like me has a girl and you couldn't get laid in a whorehouse, with a fist full of hundred dollar bills.

That's big talk. No wonder people think you live in a basement. 67 year-olds that take viagra are too mature to talk like that.

Good thing I'm not 67 and don't take Viagra and don't live in a basement, then.
