Is it normal that my friends tease me for having a friend that's female?

I made a friend out of a female co-worker a few weeks ago. And as she's a co-worker I obviously see her alot at work. I was retelling a story of a conversation me and her shared to one of my friends and I was instantly teased like a had a new girlfriend. They asked what her name was and I answered (I felt I didnt need to hide it. She's ONLY a friend) but I feel like this is just going to get worse even though I never mention her. Just on that occasion.
It pisses me off because one of these friends has a very close female friend and no one says anything about that, but as soon as I have one its like a huge embarassing deal.
So... To have any sort of female friend in my life am I going to have to hide her existance from my main group of friends? This isn't the first time either (it happened with a different woman I used to be friends with)! I hate this! It's hypocritical and annoying.

      Yeah, seriously, I was surprised by the co-worker part. I thought he was doing to say that she's a friend from gym class XD

    They just want you to get some booty.

    Tell them she's cooler and you're ditching them to hang out with her.
