Is it normal that my friend won't speak to be because i corrected her grammar?

She sent me this text: "hey my mom is in hsptl. she had a strk. im @ hom n my car wont start pls help", so I told her to try again in English and I'll help her. She called me a fucking cunt and the lowest form of life later. She won't speak to me now, IIN?

Sorry to say this, I'm usually one of the nice ones on here, but you are a fucking cunt.

Your friends MOTHER had a stroke, she could have been dying, and you decided you wanted to be all high and mighty rather than help your friend in what was probably one of their darkest hours.

I hope that made you feel good about yourself, I hope you're proud that you're so much more intelligent than her.

Honestly, lots of people text that way. It's faster. She was upset. Fuck, my PARENTS text like that and they're medical professionals. Grow up.

Ouch. In a moment of distress, no one wants to repeat themselves.

When I send sms it's always like that. I think she is mad because you have not immediately reached out to help her.

Okay, I'm guilty of being insulting peoples' grammar, but at a time like that, when your friend's MOTHER is in the hospital, on the brink of life and death, and your friend is asking for your help, and instead of immediately going to her aid and saying "I'll be there", you chose to be rude and insult her grammar at a time when she needed you?

At a time of a family crisis, grammar is the last thing on someone's mind. Now, maybe you legitimately couldn't understand her. If that's the case, then how you said it made it seem like you chose to insult her instead of help her. But if that isn't the case, and you knew that her mother had a stroke and was in the hospital, but instead of helping her you chose to insult her grammar- yeah, I'm not gonna lie, if that ever happened to me, my reaction would probably be the same as your friend's.

What you are all overlooking is that this has nothing to do with grammar. It is just text speak.

It is VERY ANNOYING to correct other people's grammar. It's the reason I kinda hate my parents, they corrected mine all the time.

They could be trying to make you a better person.

Well I think the manner you said it might have come off as rude. However if you restated it I think she would not be so upset. Nothing wrong with helping people as long as you are not being a prick. Her grammar is horrible.
