Is it normal that my face is that long that updos look extremely unflattering?

Quite a lot of people have told me my face looks weird. I have a oval shape but I myself don't see my face as weird when I put it up in a bun or a ponytail. It's also not that long, I've seen other girls with a longer face. But somehow they can not look weird.
I feel like when I'm walking down the street or in a bus, all of the eyes are on me. I'm always worried about how my hair sits and I always touch it. I am tired of worrying how I look and looking for people on the internet for HOURS with the same head shape as mine.
I don't get what's wrong with my face. I think I have a small skull. I have good face proportions but they don't mean anything when people notice how weird my peanut shaped head looks. I think if it was just long with a good skull size i wouldve looked much better with hair down, and updos. If someone relates please share your story.

  • It's normal for you to feel this way, but you may be overthinking it.
I used to be really worried about my face shape. A friend of mine commented on how long it is, so after that I became really self-conscious. Then I found pictures of actresses like Sarah Jessica Parker, Liv Tyler, Kristen Stewart, Jenna Malone, and quite a few more. I realized that these women and are still considered to be beautiful regardless of their hairstyles and face-shapes. If you look closely enough, you can see they too have longer face shapes. Milla Jovovich has a widow's peak hairline. In general superficial rules, those aren't flattering or beautiful therefore should be hidden, yet she still wears her hair back exposing the hairline.. There is no ONE way to look beautiful nor to wear an updo. Maybe there are general rules regarding how people with certain face shapes should wear their hair, but I've learned to not give a rat's ass about them. I have a long face, but I still wear my hair short, long, layered, in braids, messy buns, and just about every hairstyle you can think of. You may be self conscious for a while, but eventually you may learn that you just gotta own it. Wear whatever style YOU WANT, not what you think your face-shape needs. If you don't like it, try a new one. If you do, it's yours. ;P
    Hope this helps. :)

I think giant tall updos look awesome on any girl...trust me nobody will notice or care about your face shape compared to such an awe-inspiring creation :)

Its important to pick hair styles that ate flattering to your face shape. I'm sure there are guides on the internet that can help you pick one.
