Is it normal that my best friend always judges me ?

This guy has been one of my best friends for about 5 years. But whenever I do something like buying a new Tshirt, he always tries to prove that my Tshirt is one of the cheap kinds. I am like I know my stuffs are cheap because I can't affort branded ones. He's my best friend and he's supposed to understand that. What is the point of proving that I'm wearing cheap clothes ? Not just about clothes, he usually judges me on many things like my taste in girls, my favorite movie genres or food ect. which makes me feel like I'm making bad choices all the time. What kind of friend is he ?

    I used to have really judgey friends and trust me when I say you're better without them. My friends now don't care what I do, they still love me and it's an amazing feeling! I know it's hard to let go though

    I think he doesn't appriciate the way you are and its up to you to allow someone to change you.i think he's not realy your best friend

    I had a friend like that. She would always try to one up me in every situation and i didn't understand it. And she would go out of her way to make me look bad in front of people. Obviously i don't talk to the bitch anymore. But i'd have a conversation with him before it gets to the point where he thinks its ok to just run over you all the time.
