Is it normal that money is unattractive to me

I am a well educated but unemployed woman in my early 20s. Whenever I realise that a guy is rich I get this desire to flee in the opposite direction, something about a rich guy repels me. Which car a guy drives doesn't interest me, I don't care if he rides a bicycle as long as he's loyal and amazing. We are just average in terms of wealth in my family and I feel a rich guy and I would be worlds apart. There are things I can't afford but the mere thought of being spoilt by a guy makes me sick. Is this normal I find rich guys unattractive

You're associating being wealthy with being pompous or over spending which isn't always the case. Bear in mind that you can find a rich guy who is quite the philanthropist and has a great personality. I applaud how you are able to disregard a guy's financial status and focus on his inner qualities because all some women look for is extrinsic qualities which eventually leads to a failing relationship. So to me, you're headed the right way. Just try not to turn down a good guy just because he's rich. If you don't want him to be lavish you can voice that and advise how to best spend his wealth for a good cause.

Personally I like a girl who isn't impressed by money.
Who doesn't care if we live in a mansion or a trailer park...

I think actually rejecting someone purely because they are wealthy is bizarre.
There are great guys who have money - maybe due to hard work, good luck or any other number of things.

I voted not normal (as in typical) quite simply for the reason that I think most people would be attracted to the idea of their lover having lots of money to spoil them with. Many people ARE that superficial, and that's really the only thing that they care about.

You find the idea of that repulsive, because you generally find people with that kind of wealth not very relatable to you and your ideals/principles. By any means, this is not a bad thing. Because of your particular preferences, I bet you will find a very good man that treats you well and knows how to win your heart without having to buy you lots of things.

One of the nicest people I've ever known was the son of one of the richest men on earth. Though his family name would be immediately recognizable to any of you, I had no idea for the first 3 months we hung out together, and it was the harbormaster in the marina who told me, not him.
No gold chains or fancy clothes and his boat was actually a few feet smaller than mine. He didn't flash money, paid his fair share, but wasn't stingy either.
He was from old money and he was a very classy fellow. Even today as CEO of one of the largest old corporations on earth, he has an extremely low internet profile.
Your prejudice is as irrational as any other prejudice, and a very poor way to judge the character of an individual.

  • Lol.

"I just want a nice guy".
    "Looks aren't important to me".
    "I don't care about money".

    Heard it all before. ;)

Yeah, when she and her 'nice guy' with their three kids are out on the streets because of outsourcing, etc.(probably through no fault of their own), let's see how much she hates money!
Anyone who says that money doesn't matter, is an immature child.

Riding a bicycle is not a sign of being poor. That wasn't a very thought out comment.

I was looking at bicycles the other day and they ranged from us$500.00 to over us$5000.00. I seriously doubt you can judge a person by the fact they ride a bike.
