Is it normal that male virginity has tripled since 2008?

I saw some statistics somewhere that 27% of guys between 18 and 30 are virgin. In 2008, only 8% of guys that age were virgin. The rate was basically constant between 1989 and 2008. If the statistics are true, I'm not really surprised that the incel movement has become a thing.

    OH MY GOD HOW SHOCKING!

You mean, around the time that men started spending all day playing world of warcraft and call of duty and stopped having social skills or any recognizable habit of going outside...virginity peaked!!!???

It definitely makes sense to blame women for the rise of incel-dom though. I guess we aren't doing our public service by failing to knock on the doors of random moms to see if there's any lonely guys in their basement who havent showered in 2 weeks.

    Our bad.

Being serious here, I'm going to present a complicated cultural argument that is gender neutral. It's based on social sensibilities that existed way back in the 1950s.

Long ago, most women (the Beckys) were valued by how successful their children were. Didn't really matter if they were married to a Chad or not. Top quality maternal influences reigned supreme. Teaching your kids pre-algebra in third grade even tho it wasn't in textbooks yet, telling them the fuck with their homework in fifth grade - go read an essay in a news magazine instead, and we will talk about it at dinner time. This was the world I grew up in, as well as my four siblings. College was cheap, academic quality was top notch, and state tax payers kept the cycle going so their kids could have a shot at success.

In other words the system basically worked. Production jobs paid the bills. Upward mobility was expected.

The 70s brought container shipping, silicon wafer fabrication, and birth control pills. Everyone's dream - sort of. Except, now with tremendous demand for advanced skills, higher education raised their prices fast; really fast. Not much choice but to pay the price, and become a high tech student loan debt slave.

The excellent domestic influences that the Beckys were good at, suddenly didn't matter. Children had become unaffordable.

There you have it. 21st century Beckys drink coffee at Starbucks on Saturday morning and are valued for very little. They just don't have the warm healthy glow of a wonderful family that Grandmother Beckys once had. Sure, a few Stacys bang the Chads, but that happened back in the 50s too. *Sigh*.

Emptiness is a sign of the times, kids.

    • No it's not women's fault like incels claim, it's their own fault.

I don't know why people put so much focus on virginity. In some societies its taboo to have it before marriage. In others it's bad if a person doesn't have it before a certain age. It's all so friggin dumb.

Most people have a natural drive to have sex, but society often makes it exaggerated one way or another. And you still can have a good life without sex. For anyone wanting to have sex, its understandable they want it before a certain age as when you actually start getting old, people find you less attractive so your chances get even lower

Actually, the incel thing was started by a lesbian to describe herself. Then over time it became more about misogynistic weirdos online.

There was actually going to be an incel documentary before the word gained a more heinous meaning, mainly after the Elliot Rodger thing.

When did cellphones and online gaming come out. Guys are to busy shooting each other online and girls are to busy doing TikTok challenges to see each other. Sad but reality.

For some reason, that year, 2008, marked the turning-point for many bad things I've noticed.

In 2008, the financial crisis happened, Obama was elected president and smartphones started becoming a thing. I'm not that old, but I've never seen such a huge advancement in technology as I did during the 2008-2012 period, it was pretty insane.

I remember kramer from sienfield went rogue at some comedy club around 2007 and started yelling the black ppl in the audience were n****rs. He never even lost a day of work over that. If that happened today his whole blood line would be canceled 😂

There's nothing wrong with being a virgin.

Guys that play sports, sing or play musical instruments are much more attractive, and interesting than those who spend all their time playing video games!

I never understood how someone couldn't find someone to bang. Even if it was only a couple of people.

That being said, I imagine that 8% number might be skewed a bit by people lying for whatever reason. It's likely the actual number is a bit higher.

    • I believe I've seen the study referenced; it only mentions men who haven't had sex *with a woman* since turning 18. No mention of having sex while in high-school, or gay or bisexual men.

If it's only about sex with a woman and excludes gay sex that is a huge flaw in the statistic. Being gay has also gotten more socially acceptable lately

I think the internet and social media is killing face to face interaction skills. I see a lot of man shaming but what about all the young ladies glued to their phones 24/7?

I mean personally I'd rather fuck a Virgin than a stud. A Virgin is gonna take his time cause he wants more. A Virgin is going to be free of stds guaranteed. Some serious perks. You just got to find the ones that won't cum in 5 seconds

I heard about that too. Both genders need to look at together, why and what can be done. But it should never involve forcing someone to have sex. The right to say "no" and decide over their own body is more important than someone having access to sex (I'm saying this as a virgin myself). If you see it from the women's perspective, it makes no sense they should choose to have sex with someone where they dont really feel like it solely so more guys can get laid. And women aren't "out to get you" they are living lives on their own. How many women are virgins at the same age by comparison?

I heard most women have very high unrealistic standards because guys constantly complement them to flirt on social media. Maybe that needs to stop (or maybe its exaggerated). I also heard most men today have lower testosterone compared to age than before, so maybe most women naturally dont find them attractive. Better diet and exercise would maybe solve some of that. I also heard birth control lower women's sex drive. But I also think women are simply naturally the more picky gender than men, although other factors can amplify it.
