Is it normal that m boyfriend is obsessed with an unattractive woman?

I broke up with my boyfriend because he became obsessed with a woman. He worked with her, and hid her from me, never talked about her, and he talks about everyone he comes in contact with. He began to treat me like he didn't like me after he was around her. He wouldn't sleep with me.

I am a good looking woman, and my boyfriend and I got along well- lots of verbal banter, laughter, good sex, same interests, little boredom and he always told me how attractive I was.

The thing is I do not think she attractive at all. It is kind of insulting to me. He doesn't know her, and has only talked to her a little bit. It must be mostly physical, and definitely a fantasy. She is younger than he is.

He told me he thought she had a pretty face. But in all honesty, she is very plain, in fact masculine looking Is this a fetish?

I really don't understand the obsession because she is not pretty, she is kind of strange. Can someone give me some insight?

It's called pheromones. You don't need to be beautiful and witty to attract people for mating. Chemistry has a lot to do with being attracted to someone. Perhaps her biology really wants to mate and procreate so her body is working overtime pumping out the chemicals. She does not necessarily need to be good looking to be attractive. Personally, I look at the whole package. That can be more attractive than a pretty face or perfect model's body.

Instant attraction is strange. It isn't always about the physical appearance. I've only come across maybe less than a handful that i actually couldn't understand why... I didn't find them attractive yet was drawn to them. Maybe it has to to with pheromones. Everyone has a unique scent. Could be the voice.. Could be the optimism...

Try not to dwell in it

This actually happened to me once. I had a really gorgeous long term girlfriend and I became unexplainable attracted to another not as attractive girl. My girlfriend same as you became jealous and broke up with me because of her. I ended up having a full night of fairly crazy sex with this girl then I haven't given her a second thought since.
