Is it normal that it's not so black and white?

People always like to act like meat-eating people don't care about animals being abused while they're being raised for our consumption. That's false as I care about them as much as the next person. What these people aren't aware of is that it's not so simple to just stop buying commercialized meat, get their own ranch, and hunt. There's laws and limits in place. You need a X number of acres for livestock, a hunting licence, and you can only hunt a X number of days out of the year. Not only that, but you also need to have a gun permit and even be good with a gun.

Just because someone eats meat does NOT mean they don't care or not grateful for the animal that died to be their chicken, fish, steak, or pork dinner.

With this in mind, Vegetarians and Vegans aren't neccessarily "Saints" for giving up meat or all animal products. If anything, it only makes them more entilted to act as if they're "Godsends".

Get organic meat - those animals are raised in better conditions.

It doesn't matter if you hunt an animal or buy chicken breasts from Walmart. You're still killing an animal okay. That being said i love bacon and i know eating meat is bad i'm sorry but like why is it so good right? These companies should start localizing their businesses and branching them out where so that every town has their own local farm owned by these businesses. And euthanize (put them to sleep) the animals instead of cutting their throats or heads off. That creates more jobs and better quality food and quality of life for the animals. But these companies don't give a fuck about anything except $$$$$.

Slightly off topic: I think there is a cognitive dissonance a lot of us develop that allows us to detach the origin of what we eat from the food itself.

Most of the meat we come across is packaged and cooked in a way that allows us never to see or think about the live animal from whence it came, that was butchered into little pieces for our consumption.

The amount of meat-eating people who can't stand to see an animal slaughtered and certainly couldn't stand to do it themselves is kind of ridiculous.

I include myself in that; if someone brought to me a live chicken and said 'Here's your dinner. Kill it, gut it, pluck it and cook it." I'm not sure I could bring myself to kill, unless there was no alternative. Yet I'll happily eat a neatly prepared cut of chicken I bought from the shops. This seems kind of absurd to me.

I care a lot about animal rights - actually I think it would be great if we could move towards a society with little or no meat / dairy industry. But I still eat meat.

People who have been veggie heads for too long...their brains probably went into a vegetative state. 87% of all veggie heads have really bad skin problems because of not eating meat.

We are genetically programmed to eat meat. Do you think a Lion will suddenly turn vegan because he felt bad for the animal whose eyes he gauged out?

There's a reason why some animals are Herbivores and others are Carnivores.

On a side note: Vegetarians... my food poops on your food. enjoy your meal

Vegetarians and Vegans aren't "saints", they are just folks who don't eat meat. If these people honestly believe they can live in modern society and not consume, in one way or another, products that come directly or indirectly from the death of animals, then they are just lying to themselves. They are no better, moral or more just than anyone else, they are just more deluded.
