Is it normal that it bothers me that people don't care about language any more?

Okay. So, I've been taking French classes for 5 years, and I'm pretty close to being fluent; I am of a much higher level than the others in my class. They're always complaining that this class is a joke or how stupid it is and it makes me mad. I don't understand how they got into this class or passed previous levels!

Also with English, people never use proper spelling and grammar anymore and it annoys me to no end.

I'm tired of people acting like language and grammar don't matter! Am I the only one who is bothered with this?

I hate bad punctuation and grammar. I wish people would take the time to speak and write correctly. It's not that hard.

True story. Once in class, a student stood up to get water. The teacher told her to sit down, and she said "but sur, I is thursty". Sorry for misspells, but thats her pronunciation.

Si tu vas aux pays où ils parlent français, ils faisent la même aussi. Par exemple, ciné = 6né.

Nothing's wrong with learning a foreign language, but French?

I've done more than my share of world travel and have yet to visit a French speaking country. Kind of a useless language unless you plan to visit France.

I enjoy teaching my self foreign language. I have noticed people don't seem to mind having piss poor grammar. I wish more people such as yourself existed in order to streamline communication and filter out all the yuppie, semi-tic assholes who choose to manipulate the language at their will. When you hear, "I use MY own dictionary," you know you ran into one, turn the other way. I have taught my self Spanish and German so far. I haven't had a desire for French but who knows, it may need to be learned by myself.

I agree; there may be times when you'll have to communicate with non-English speakers, so it's never a bad idea to learn foreign languages. And lack of proper grammar bothers me too, like some stories I've seen here are just a big paragraph with no punctuation and nearly every word is abbreviated or misspelled. I don't even know how they got past the moderation lol
