Is it normal that is it normal makes me into a total...

...Freaking bitch?

I'm a nice person, but the more time I spend here, the bitchier my comments get. I do give good advice here from time to time, but this site makes me lose empathy. Is it normal to act like a dick here?

Yes. This is why I take regular breaks. I'm a patient person but some people are hard to talk to. And I really don't like getting cranky with people who don't deserve it simply because another user pissed me off. It isnt fair to them and I like to think I have better self control than that.

Well.. It's like the old saying.. http://youtu.be/I71cY9Ysy5U
That's what I try to go by for the most part but I understand, some of the posts here are just so, well stupid, and not necessarily that the OP is stupid, otherwise I wouldn't even bother... I know when I first joined here looong ago I would ask things I'd be embarrassed about today, and so it is a good learning experience, this site, that's how I've always used it- to see what is acceptable, interesting, or funny to the general public, since I seem to not "get it" naturally. So, some "bullying" (not saying you are) is actually helpful, at least to me.
Anyway I don't think you have to worry, your comments are thoughtful from what I've seen, if you did act like a "freaking bitch" it was probably for good reason..:p

I think it's difficult, if not impossible, not to lose empathy on this site when some post such inarticulate and inane posts. After a while the level of stupidity becomes oppressive and almost demands a rebuke. I can't imagine what goes through a poster's head when they are truly seeking help or advice, but they make their post so hard to read, all the readers want to do is strike out at them in frustration. And those that ask a 500 word question, when a 4 word search on google will give more information, better and more reliable information than they could ever hope to get on here?
The flood of posters asking, "what is he/she thinking when he/she looks at me like this in class?" (an obviously unanswerable question) or the like, and those too lazy to spell out a 3 letter word like you, drive me crazy, so I lose it and lash out at them. It may not be right, and it may not be very adult, but I too am human and can react emotionally.

Yeah, I agree with your comment completely. I'm OP on this one. I become frustrated with posts here for the very same reasons. The utter stupidity is probably what makes me most likely to slam my head into a wall...that and the poor grammar, repeat questions, misguided sexual fantasies written out in graphic detail, etc etc etc.

However, I recently posted about a serious, difficult issue that I didn't feel comfortable discussing with my friends or family. I did, for the most part, recieve some good advice, but there was a comment on there that I considered to be pretty hurtful (and I'm not one to take advice over an Internet forum emotionally.)

My point is, that the experience made me rethink some of the things I say here. I love a good joke as much as the next INNer - and I'll totally make one at every opportunity I get, but I don't want to be a total cunty cunt when people are asking for legitimate advice, just because my time on the site has made me insensitive.

It happens to me as well. I am a nicer person in real life but I come on here and my morbid curiousity gets the better of me. I see stupid comments and I lash out at them. Also the anonymity helps.

If I had just found this site I might feel that way because there are notable differences from a few years ago. Yea, there were tons of repeated posts and posts that just seemed too obvious to be legitimate problems, but not nearly as many trolls...though maybe there were and I just didn't realized how often I was being trolled...

Anyway, when I first found this place I actually think it woke up my empathy. There was something so great and beautiful about all us people being both so unique and so similar to each other. I loved that we came in so many flavors and there was no shortage of shoes to put your feet into.

Some users do get on your nerves at times, and some do need a good telling!
I'd say I'm a nice person but I will be a bitch if need be ;)
