Is it normal that is it normal is like an empty warehouse now?

I see lots of really good posts with mostly only one or two comments. Big and empty is how I see is it normal now. Before it was like a cosy warm room where everyone interacted. Who feels the same?

It's because the 'front-line' moderation has been removed, so more posts get through, but fewer are around long enough for a long discussion to take place. So now you get one or two that become a hotbed of activity whilst the rest are left to wither in solitude :P

Also, about moderation - I think we were initially told that questions reported by users as inappropriate would be checked by moderators, but I don't think that's the case. I think questions that are reported are instantly removed. I'm not even sure there are any moderators (except us).

They are moved to moderation. I saw when I had gold.

Ah OK, so they're automatically stashed away until the mods have time to check it. Makes sense.

Which is often still as slow as it was before the system changed...and if they get through moderation, they're inserted wherever they were first posted...which is not necessarily the first page.

Shit post overload still a big issue on main page.

Yep. I remember seeing some posts up this morning where one OP admitted to being 12, another 8, and another 15. Said posts have been deleted.

When you get cretins posting absolutely STUPID questions like, "Why does he stare at me like this? What's he thinking?", how can anybody stay interested in IIN. Another can't figure out why their cheap bathroom scale isn't as accurate as the one in their doctor's office. Really?
I think it's more the lock of intelligent and interesting questions, rather than a lack of answers.

    • I have seen some great questions that receive hardly any posts.

I think its the fact that there are so many stupid questions and repeat questions that many people just dont care to give many actual answers anymore.

This is why they should have a list of frequently asked questions on the side of the page. I keep seeing "Is it normal im a virgin at (Insert age)."

That's a good point - quantity over quality has become an issue.

This place seems to be at a low point now. I remember this place having many interesting people, posts, and advice two years ago. I'm hoping it'll get better soon because I miss the wonderful advice I used to get from the users.

I've been here for a little over 4 years now. It seems like things were more thought out, original, and unusual in earlier days. I'm not sure if it's just because I'm losing interest or because I'm older now. Could just come down to that really.

I think as people age they may lose interest in some things and as a result the become nostalgic for times that were more exciting. You know, like as you age you've seen more and less of the world is 'fresh'. I still see neat posts here and there though.

that's so true and rings true to so many different things in different mediums. There is a massive memory filter on nostalgia.

  • I've been reading for a couple years. Just recently signed up, though I don't know why.

disting pretty well summed it up. A lot of good members, who posted well written, thoughtful comments and stories, seem to have left.

The new (lack of) moderation ruined it.

Just this morning I clicked on a random post and as I started reading through it and the comments I was like, "Nice, this one is pretty good/well though out/insightful. Is this a new one?"
    Nope. Posted 4 years ago.

It's definitely on a down period. Here's to hoping it swings around again.

Edit: Oooh, also at least now we can get out the little cart things and sprint down aisles riding on the back of them! :D
