Is it normal that i would rather not eat than going to the restaurant alone?

When it's lunch hour at university and I feel like going out to eat, if no one wants to go with me, I will not go because I don't want to be seen as a loner. Is this normal?

A tip for you. Get a pad and write the name of the restaurant at the top of the page. Then write things like "Quality of Service", "Food", "Friendliness", "Promptness", "Price" and finally write out your order.

Everyone will just think you are a food critic and won't see it as odd that you're eating alone. If you leave the pad somewhere prominent, you'll be amazed how nice the staff are and how quickly you get served.

Obviously this doesn't work somewhere like McDonald's where you'll just attract the attention of someone confused by the weird shapes on the white papery stuff.

Your I.Q. or creativity is great. Good idea.

        • That's an understatement. In fact, it is under an understatement. :P :P

Ahh, yes, you're right. Posing as a restaurant critic is definitely very strange. It's right up there with being a giant, talking rodent. Not that I know anyone *that* crazy. :P

            • What you so cleverly left out of your post was that you were dressed as a tiger. Now I know that you *think* you are at the top of the food chain and all but you don't have to wear it whilst out for a meal! :P

Yeah I did that too but i am pretty much a 'loner' and in university it didn't seem as weird since there is not as much judgement like high school, i would just get something to take away, sit by a window or do something else while eating

Hmm, I've never been to a restaurant alone. I don't think I'd mind it, I like being alone. Eating out seems like a social thing to do to me, though. So I can see where you're coming from, because I don't think I'd ever go to a restaurant alone. However, you need to eat. If being perceived as a loner bothers you that much then why don't you talk to some new people?
