Is it normal that i wish i was this age in the 1980's?

Ever felt you were born in the wrong decade? I'm 25, so I was born at the end of the 80's and never got to experience it first hand. Sometimes I get so immersed in what happened during that decade that I wish I lived it at my current age. At the very least, I would love to go back in time for a day and see what it was like before the digital age truly took over.

I understand this may seem very naive seeing this on the Internet, but I often feel detached from others because of the media I choose to listen and watch. That, and I find myself getting increasingly alienated from the bombardment of information from the Internet, the modern news media and our Facebook/Twitter/YouTube/Twitch-driven "viral culture".

On the other hand, I often feel that using the Internet to immerse myself in this back-dated culture allows me a greater perspective on cultural history. I am a massive history buff, so having all of these primary sources from the 1980's is a really nice thing.

This wishful thinking and daydreaming is fine but a part of me thinks I should really start focusing on the present day. It's fine to observe the music, culture and historical perspective of a previous decade, but I should focus on finding happiness in what's here now. If only it weren't so difficult...

I think it's normal to feel like you were born in the wrong decade. But like a bunch of people might be about to tell you, you're probably just romanticizing that time. If you were actually to go back there, it probably wouldn't be so great as you imagine, and there'd be a bunch of aspects that you may not have bargained on.

But one thing that you brought up was the pre-internet age. That really changed the way we think and do things. I feel like it crept up on us. It was like, before we were all in smaller groups and things like music were more special, more significant, because we had to seek them out. It wasn't better then. But it definitely just "feels" different now... like in a 'collective consciousness' kind of way. Because our sources of information and stuff where much more limited than they are now.
Sometimes I wish to go back to a pre-internet age too.
    Anyway... (I'm drinking/ranting but posting anyway..fkt).

Think about how bad sexism, racism, and every other bigoted problem is today, multiple that by 5. Still difficult to not be n the 80's?

Well I can tell you it was inconvenient to research things. You really had to go to school to know anything about anything, or at least read a lot from the library. I read a lot, but wasted my time with romantic novels. Food was going downhill starting in the 60s and 70s, and in the 80s they introduced a lot of sugar substitutes. You think that's not important, but we all are much less healthy now. It's not just our bodies but our mental health too.

You may find solace in doing something old-fashioned but smart, like organic vegetable and flower gardening. Also, maybe you would like classic car shows. Get outside in nature to get away from electronics. Get involved in protecting nature and food. We need people who want things to go back to being good instead of poisoned, and we need the business monopolies broken up. Vote for Bernie Sanders - he's the 80's all grown up.

Get a mullet...better yet, a mullet with the spiked flat top haircut. Now buy a beat-up leather flight jacket, a pair of stonewashed tapered-leg jeans and some high top sneakers. Don't forget to carry around a Sony Walkman.
That pretty much describes VirgilManly back in the 80's.

Also, don't forget to use phrases like, tubular, get psyched, fer sure, decent, totally awesome, gag me with a spoon, and add the letters "age" after many words. Example "Aw decent, can you give me a cig-age?"
