Is it normal that i wish i was old enough to have partied 10-15 years ago?

I can't help but feel that partying was a heck of a lot cooler back then, but I was too young back then to have experienced one of those parties. I remember being excited to grow-up so I could attend one of those parties, but where have they gone? Today's parties just seem really dull in comparison.

Parties on tv and in older people's stories always sound great. It doesn't necessarily reflect reality. Parties don't change so dramatically. I think it's more likely that real life can't live up to an image you built up in your head from media and second hand stories.

Almost everyone has pined for something like this - for me, I always wanted to see the 1950s in person. It was when my parents had their youth and according to them, and the tv, it was great. But in reality I don't think it would be that different, and certainly not automatically better. Perhaps the music and the clothes would be different.

I agree with this. I also feel the same way about the '70s and '80s, which were the decades in which my parents were my age, and those decades seem so magical to me and fascinate me so much, I'm sure sure due to the fact that I didn't get to experience them. Even my parents tell me that a lot of things about life were pretty much the same (obviously not technology or anything like that, but people still faced similar problems to what they do today; it's just that many people view the past through rose colored glasses and tend to only remember the good and not as much of the bad, people who were very young at the time believe times were simpler because being young in general makes life simpler, and TV/media often depicts fantasy) and that life wasn't particularly better in those eras, but it's just common for people to glorify the past. I'm sure this applies to people's wild party stories as well.

When I think of the 90s now I see it in the shitty video resolution that the cameras had like in my head. And then the 50s I view in black and white

I am the same way with the black and white! Thinking of the '50s and prior in very clear color vision just like what I see before me is mind-boggling to me.

When you say partied, the first thing that comes to mind is the top 40s music of the time which was katy perry, lady gaga, lil wayne, kesha and stuff like that, i was in high school from 2007-2011 so i partied 10-15 years ago. It was pretty fun but thats mainly because it was house parties and i hated being at my home, not the time period.
