Is it normal that i want to take herbal medicine rather than going to a doctor?

Reasons for this is are:
- It's way too expensive for regular healthcare (I live in the US so our healthcare isn't socialized and the cost of it isn't reduced like in other countries)
- I don't like doctors
- I don't want to take medicine that could possibly make me feel worse should I get sick or injured
and
- I believe that herbal medicine can help you just as much or even better than traditional medicine

Alternative medicine may have some potential benefits, but it seems the amount of bull that comes with it outweighs these possible benefits by a large margin.

Do your research thoroughly if you're going to try something. Many medicines are extracted from plants or synthesized using relatively mundane processes, but so often the processing that takes place is actually to alleviate some side effects of the remedy.

As for the side effects of traditional medicine, most medicine literally is the best thing you can take for the least amount of drawback. Why? If there was something better, companies would be selling that instead.

I totally get where you're coming from on the first three points, unfortunately you're almost certainly mistaken on the last one.

Just look into the right herbal medicine. I would go to a herbal medicine place or a Chinese pharmacy.

  • I completely believe in using herbal, natural, and nutritional remedies as a good form of preventative medicine. Sadly, as much as I hate to admit, modern medicine definitely has its place in this world for making a lot of people get well a lot quicker. I think that people should use natural remedies more often for mild and some more severe ailments first instead of always jumping the gun for a quick fix.

Almost all illnesses do have a root cause that you can prevent with a healthy lifestyle. But there are still others that are unpreventable no matter what you do and most of the time modern medicine is the best course of action for survival.

There certainly is a place for alternative medicine, but it should be used intelligently in conjunction with modern practical medicine.
If you need antibiotics for instance, you most likely will not find an herbal remedy that is as fast acting and efficient.
Like anything else research, education and an open mind are your best resources; it shouldn't be all or nothing, in this case.

It's perfectly normal. I stopped taking laboratory made medicine after I vacate very ill from one and made a complete transition to herbal medicine. I'm even considering going into other alternatives like Acupuncture and Fire Cupping. I still see doctors, but not as much as I used too. Its less expensive except when I saw a neurologist and had to get an MRI. The healthcare system has an extremely negative view on alternative medicine. Views that don't seem to be shared in other places like the EU and Asia.
