Is it normal that i want to buy my boyfriend a new wardrobe?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for almost a year. We are in our early 30s. He doesn't earn a lot of money and doesn't have a lot of disposable income. I earn a lot more than he does.

He buys and wear cheap clothes, a lot of the time it's unflattering, poor quality and, well, I would prefer he dress a bit nicer. I like him for who he is, and am just wondering if I should do something about this or not.

Would love any suggestions as to what I could do, so that it doesn't come across as if I am trying to change him....too much

His birthday is coming up in a few months... I was thinking of maybe buying him some gym, sports clothes and runners. But I don't want to go over the top in case it makes him feel uncomfortable...

Look forward to reading your advice.

If he is a mature adult, hopefully he would say thank you and accept your generosity in the spirit it was meant. Unfortunately, most males just aren't built that way. They take too many well meaning gestures as an affront to their masculinity.
Only you know your boy friend well enough to know how he would take such a generous and thoughtful gift. Good luck.

Don't overdo it, not that it comes off as if you are trying to treat him like your doll. Not too many clothes at once.

By the way, even if he doesn't earn much: there are pretty decent and styleful inexpensive clothes out there.

It's nice to get surprises but you should think about how he is likely to react. Since he earns less than you, it could make him uncomfortable, depending on how sensitive he is about this topic.

Get him the most expensive suit you can find, and say: Stop dressing like a faggot and wear something stylish." Men like a bit of rough talk.

I don't know about sport clothes. Personaly because I hate them like athletic tight shirts ew. But I feel that would be a really sweet thing to do :) Maybe a nice button up shirt and nice jeans. And new socks because everyone loves new socks.
