Iin, that i've never been able to see into microscopes and telescopes?

Hello, folks. I've decided to go to college to get degrees in Botany and Astronomy as the two are some of my biggest passions however, there is one potentially big problem: I can't see into telescopes or microscopes! I don't think that I've ever been able to pull this off. I've worn glasses since 1st grade, but before that I don't recall ever looking into either of these devices. I've tried looking into microscopes both with or without my glasses and it has never worked. I remember family members and friends and their family getting frustrated or being puzzled by this because they could see into the device but I couldn't. The only microscope I've been able to see results with was by, I think, Discovery Kids, and it had a reasonably sized TV attached to the microscope and it magnified everything on a large scale. It should be said, that most of the microscopes I had where cheaply made toys. I have one that was very expensive and bought for high school a few years back. I don't recall ever really intensively looking into it, though.

With the telescope, I remember only having one and that was a cheaply made toy from a toy store. I don't remember it ever really working well as a kid.

My main concern is is that if I can't see into these devices how will I be able to get degrees in these fields? Is there a easy way to remedy the situation? Is this normal?

You picked some great fields of study to be in. I'm a trial lawyer with agoraphobia so bad I can't leave the house.

  • I just fiddle around with it. In one of my classes there is a semi-fancy microscope where the ocular lens AND objective lens move, so when I first encountered it I just sat there and messed around with them, like a toy. Eventually I was able to bring the tissue into focus.

It just takes practice I think. Just sit down, don't stress, and view it like a puzzle. My high school teacher could focus a microscope asap. I have faith in you! As for telescopes...idk. I've never worked with one. Good luck in your endeavors

I have trouble with binoculars and I am not great with telescopes so I get what you mean.

New posts are coming in too fast now and it's not giving people time to respond...have you noticed that?
