Is it normal that i turned a soccer player down

So a while back a quite known soccer player from my country texted me out of the blue to meet up. I said no, because I didn't know him and I had never talked to him before. Later I found out that he has girlfriend. Now my friends are telling me that I'm stupid to have 'turned him down' and I missed my shot. I don't think so, because I mean... I didn't know him at all plus he has a girlfriend. Is it normal that I turned him down?

    It seems to me that you don't value celebrities in the way your friends do. That is completely fine! You weren't crazy for turning him down, you just aren't a gold digger :) No sweat!

    Sorry if this is a real question based on real events you need some real help what a sad world this is becoming. Why don't you ask your parents this question how would they feel that you would even ask such a question?

      What a sad world this is becoming that everyone just assumes this is about hooking up with him. My friends meant I missed my shot to get to know him, not a shot to go to bed with him. And thank you, but I don't think I need 'help'.
