Is it normal that i try so hard on my hair?

I'm a guy and I feel that a lot of my appearance is based off of my hairstyle. Every day put in gel and hairspray and make it the bedhead/pompadour look. Some days, it looks better than others, sometimes I get a haircut that I don't like, but whenever I think it looks terrible, no one notices. So that means no one notices when I think it looks good. I spend so much time on my hair daily, is that normal?

Basically most people only care about how they look and about themselves and don't really pay much attention to how other people look or what other people are going through/feeling, unless they judge someone as being a potential threat. I do enjoy looking at attractive people in public (especially attractive females because I'm a straight guy) and find it interesting trying to ascertain their personality based on their look, style, clothes, and their overall vibe. I try not to judge people by how they look however. It's normal to care about your appearance but don't obsess over it.

Trust me no one is paying attention to your hair. You are basically wasting your time trying to impress people who do not give a shit about the way you look. As long as you are not a disgusting slob I think you are fine.

It's what's going on in the head underneath the hair that's really important

If no one notices, then why bother? Can't you think of anything more productive to do with all that time?
