Zeppelins are cool as hell. I wish we could bring them back from the dead. However, don't fucking use hydrogen this time!
Nothing wrong with hydrogen; and it was not a hydrogen fire that ended the Hindenburg. The fabric the blimp balloon was made of was coated with a dope type paint... which was very flammable.
Hydrogen burns light blue with no smoke; not yellow with smoke. It was the dope paint and fabric that burned.
The Germans did not want to admit that they had used such a flammable coating - and blamed hydrogen that most people accepted for many decades. In the last few decades there have been several research studies done... and it was clearly the dope paint as what caught fire (the German Company Files showed that they knew that).
The reason they ended building Zeppelin was that they had no alternative coating that worked good enough... and they did not want to have a helium filled Zeppelin go up in flames as well with massive loss of life.
Now we have other materials and coatings.
I could see it as a nice leisurely way to see the sights of the country from the air, although there’s not much to see in the heartland. Across the ocean, they’re ridiculously slow, and all you’d see is water.
