Is it normal that i think the guy who killed hitler deserves a statue?

I am surprised that the guy who killed Hitler, one of the biggest heroes of the 20th century, hasn't been given a statue at this point. I really think that the guy deserves to be remembered fondly for his brave actions during WW2.

    • Is it because he killed himself?

Obviously he did, that's just common knowledge, unless you happen to believe in conspiracy theories that he escaped to South America.

        • My us history honors teacher told us there's a lot of debate over how he killed himself, by gun or cyanide, and she said it was both

You obviously don't understand internet humor. The person who made this post is obviously referencing a popular Internet meme that has been circulating around over the past 6 years or so. The whole point of that meme is to trick ignorant people into unknowingly praising Hitler.

That's a sweeping generalization. I didn't find the humor in this. It doesn't mean I do find humor all over the internet. I don't owe you explanations but I gave you one anyway feel free to believe whatever you want

Hitler probably escaped to South America where other high ranking Nazis fled to. There's not much proof he died except a box of ashes a Soviet fond on a man claiming they were Hitlers ashes.

I'm not usually into conspiracy theories but I can totally believe that Hitler escaped. It is one of those rare instances where the conspiracy theory actually makes more sense than our historical account of what happened. There is no fucking way that a man as egotistical, intelligent and ruthless as that wouldn't have had an elaborate escape plan set up to save his own skin.

The factor you overlook is that in Hitler's mind, he _was_ Germany, and Germany _was_ him. Fleeing the country wasn't an option for him.

At the end, Hitler saw his personal doom approaching, which is why he issued orders for mass destruction in Germany (orders which Speer refused to carry out) as well as expecting the battered remnants of Germany's military forces to fight to the death. He knew Germany was dying outside the bunker, and he chose to die with it.

Most of the high ranking ss had things set up to bug out, and many of those escape plans failed miserably lol.

He shot himself, he was not at all the type to sit through a trial.

"WASHINGTON – A CIA report declassified as part of the JFK assassination document dump suggests that Adolph Hitler survived World War II and lived for several months in Colombia.

An informant had told the Central Investigation Agency that Hitler escaped from Europe and was hiding in Colombia in 1954.

The first document, dated Oct. 3, 1955, says that an unnamed CIA agent referred to as “CIMELODY-3” was contacted by “a trusted friend who served under his command in Europe and who is presently residing in Maracaibo (Venezuela).”

The memo says that a former SS officer was in regular contact with the former Fuhrer.

Hitler was apparently working as a shipping company employee in a small village only a few hours from the Colombian capital. According to the memo, Hitler then fled to Argentina.

This Argentine claims he’s Adolf Hitler

CIA memos make it clear the agency was skeptical of this report, calling it a “fantastic” story and “an apparent fantasy.”

“Neither Chimelody-3 nor this station is in a position to give an intelligent evaluation of the information and it is being forwarded as of possible interest,” the memo reads.

The former SS agent also had a photo of himself with the suspected Hitler who allegedly went by, “Adolf Schritteimayor"

Theres a supposed photo of hitler in the 60s that was given to the CIA and they released it in 2018 with the JFK files. Its on google. Idk if its true but kind of interesting.

Hitler was born in 1889, so he would have been in his seventies in the 1960s. Obviously, lots of people lived to that age back then, but it's also obvious from photographs, movies and the testimony of those who were in regularly contact with him in 1945 that he was a psychological and physical wreck by the age of 56.

He was finally forced to accept the reality of his personal situation in the bunker, and him committing suicide was psychologically consistent with someone who was unwilling to face the consequences of his choices and felt the need to exert one final bit of control over his fate.

And I read somewhere that Obama was related to hitler in some form and tried to look into it but didn’t find anything. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Interesting fact: The man who killed Hitler died on the same day of the year at hitler died.

Props on your resurrection of an ancient (in internet terms) meme.

Should there also be a statue of the guy who saved humanity by exterminating the menace that was Bigfoot?
