Is it normal that i think the gaming industry has gone greedy since 2010?

I don't know if it's me, but I think since approximately 2010, the videogame industry has progressively gotten greedier. More games are being released literally unfinished, forcing you to purchase overpriced DLC to fix the game. This is like ordering a pizza and expecting toppings. You get your pizza and is shocked that it doesn't have any toppings on it. You ask where the topping is, and they say that it'll be 2 dollars extra if you want that. I'm tired of that bullshit! When I purchase a game, I want the full fucking game with my purchase! And don't get me started on these fucking in-game purchases! Paying real money for a skin or something inside a game is something only an idiot would think to do!

EA popularized this bullshit. Now everyone else is doing it too. Believe it or not, but there used to be a time when EA didn't suck ass.

While I can't say for certain that any of these companies that defined our childhoods were ever our 'friends,' they are unquestionably NOT our friends now. It's not the same Capcom you grew up with. It' not the same Konami you grew up with. It's not the same Rockstar you grew up with. It's not the same Square you grew up with. It's not the same Nintendo you grew up with. It is CERTAINLY _NOT_ the same Blizzard you grew up with. EA has been evil for over 30 years; that is nothing new.

Many of the name brand studios have been bought out, and their latter day mistakes belong to the parent companies that own them. Others have suffered because all the good people left them. Games are released unfinished because the production demands couldn't meet the promised release date, and the rest gets put as $30 DLC. Big name franchises like Grand Theft Auto and Diablo used to mean something. They glossed magazine pages. They looked delicious. Now they disappoint. The industry, as much as I hate to say it, is long overdue for a crash.

The gaming industry has been greedy since the invention of "Pong" in the 1970's

What took you so long to catch on?

Note: Pong preceded space invaders, pac man, and many others. It was the 1st video game that was in the establishments that had pin ball machines and bars for you to play by feeding in a coin for each game.

    • No, the first public videogame would be computer space from 1971. One year before PONG. And videogames were invented back in the late 50s.

I never saw computer space in any establishments. Pong showed up first (and I fed lots of Pong, then Space Invaders, then Pack Man game machines as a teenager).
        .
Computer Space may have been invented; but, it was not commercialized like Pong was.
        .
I'll stand on my statement that Pong was the 1st video game in the establishments that had game machines. I lived it.

They don't bother me, at least most of them. In game lootboxes are ridiculous and a form of gambling and the only issue I have.

  • Yeah its turned to shit. And requires more and more powerful computers. I guess you can play on something other than pc though.

Stop buying the upgrades and they will stop. This is why I quit playing games. Not only do I not have much time but it always wants a purchase.
