Is it normal that i think protestants have waged war on christmas?

I'll clarify this by saying that I don't find ALL or even most protestants who celebrate Christmas to be annoying, but in America, they can be especially annoying sometimes. Really, it's CHRIST'S MASS; you're supposed to go to Mass and receive the Eucharist. It's a Catholic holiday; nowhere does it say in the Bible that you're supposed to celebrate it, and considering that protestants believe in sola scriptura, what justification do they have for celebrating it? I know that Lutherans do Mass, but a lot of other protestant denominations don't.

Now that I've got that out of the way, here's the annoying part; they constantly act like people (secularists, muslims, atheists, whatever flavor of bogeyman it is this week) are trying to wage war on Christmas and steal it from them. Kind of like how protestants stole it from Catholics? A lot of protestants complain about needing to defend it from others, but what are they defending, besides a holiday which they appropriated from another denomination and only begin celebrating (improperly, at that) about two centuries ago? A lot of protestants I know complain about people having "lost the true meaning of Christmas," though I believe that this is ironic coming from them; it was mostly the protestant countries which turned Christ's Mass into a capitalist holiday after taking the holiday from catholics to begin with.

Nowadays, a lot of them tenaciously defend it from such indignities as the fact that some people abbreviate it as "Xmas," as they believe that this "takes the 'Christ' out of Christmas," but evidently, they have no issue about taking the "Mass" out of Christmas, if you catch my drift.

is it normal that I think that the TRUE war on xmas is being waged by protestants?

- an atheist.

There is no "war" being waged on Christmas. Just less religious people around to get spiritual with each other. If they don't want to wake their asses up in the early morning on Christmas and take themselves and their kids to church where they can all congregate and celebrate the Christ then that is their failure as "true Christians". If they don't want to pray before their meals, read their Bible regularly, serve Christ in their daily lives and raise their children with the holy word then that is their failure as "true Christians".

You don't need to wage war on something to kill it. When you fail to keep the spirit of Christ alive in your own life, you're part of the reason why Christmas is becoming more retail than religious. I'm not a Christian myself but I once was balls deep in this shit so I'm telling you from experience if anything.
