Is it normal that i think missing someone is not just a word but a feeling too?

It's easy for someone to say I miss you, but i think it's more than just a word, it's a feeling too, don't you think? I feel that some people have said that they miss me but I don't feel like they actually do. Like when I miss someone I have this feeling and I think the feeling is missing them. Also do you believe that it can become a habit, like I thought of one of my old friends the other day and thought I miss them, but then I thought...hang on, I don't actually miss them I just miss the thought of them, I used to really miss them though, do you get what I mean?

This applies to all emotions often feigned does it not?

'Love' is often said but less often felt. Many people say it without meaning it simply because it's the 'thing to say'. The same applies to 'I miss', 'I hate', 'I need' etc.

Sometimes we say these things because we don't know the right words to express ourselves, sometimes we say them because to not say them would have a greater impact, sometimes we say them because it's the first thing that comes to mind and we don't have the patience to reconsider.

Ooh, are you familiar with the Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows? The definitions are pure poetry. <3

      • No, I found this word a few weeks ago while doing an Internet search. There are more words like this one? I'll have to check it out, thanks for the tip. :)

I don't really miss people, is that bad?

    • No, not bad at all. I think that you just haven't found someone that really means something to you or has touched your heart, because when you do and they disappear, you can really feel an emptiness and that my friend is called missing :/

The OP is basically stating that people tend to say things like :"I miss you" or "I love you", when they don't really mean it at all, it just comes out of their mouth. Thought you were smart :/

      • That words and feelings can be unconnected when coming from a person with free will is common sense. Both yourself and the OP have just made statements the equivalent of "the sky is blue".

You must be suffering serious head trauma if you think that you've just informed me (or anybody else for that matter) of this.

Yes I'm smart, you, not so much.

I had to make it clear to try and help the poor OP out as it's easy to discern that you are the one in fact with head trauma. But you wouldn't understand anything I just said because of your injury, so I will be polite.

Do you mean the phrase "I miss you" Because the word miss has several uses.

But yes, the act of missing a person is an emotion. Love is too and people often use that word without meaning as well.

    • yes I mean "i miss you" feeling, and I know! I hate it how people throw such heartfelt words around. When I say those phrases I mean it. I don't just say it for the hell of it like the majority does these days sadly :/

You need a comma if you are trying to call me the dipshit. Otherwise it looks like you are talking about the words of another person being on the dipshit side of life. Which I will agree with, people are full of all sorts of shit. And much of the time they have no idea they are doing it.
