Is it normal that i think i am too intelligent to be in a relationship

I am 22 and I reckon the reason why I have never been in a relationship is because I am too intelligent to fall for guy's crappy. I see the way girls are they fall deep for this arsehole who ends up cheating on them or just ends up being a jerk. All the people in relationships that I know are miserable and I can't see the point when there's no example of a best case scenario in a relationship because let's be honest almost everyone you know is in a shitty relationship. I just want to be in relationship with a guy who has the same level of intelligence as me so we can avoid the bullshit that people in relationships fight over etc.

Based on the relationships you see around you, I don't really blame your point of view. But it's not a fair representation; maybe everyone *you* know is in a shitty relationship, but those are just your screwy friends!

Maybe 'intelligence' isn't quite the right word? Sounds like you're after maturity, integrity etc. As opposed to all the petty, pathetic bullshit you see around you. Most relationships aren't like that. Maybe go for an older guy?

(Ps. You should make sure your sentences make sense before claiming to be intelligent...lol)

  Yes maturity but intelligence as well, compatible levels of intelligence between two people plays a factor in determining if the relationship will work out. You can Google it if you like.

It's "intelligent" not to settle, but I don't think someone has to be brilliant to be compassionate and devoted to a relationship. Sounds like you mean "maturity"

Most guys can't stand a partner who is more intelligent. For intelligent women, this is a well-known problem. I am a guy by the way. But I have noticed this too with girls in my family who are (almost) as intelligent as I am... ;-)

I'm sort of the same way, but I would use the word wise rather than intelligent. I just think that being in a relationship is over-rated. A lot of the people are kidding themselves and dating people that they f***ing hate, or the relationship is really one-sided and it's totally obvious to everyone else, EXCEPT that person. I'm gay and I do like women, as a woman, but I still don't want to date. I think that there is someone good out there for everyone, but 9/10 people don't end up with that person and instead settle for people that are shitty for them, it's just a stupid game people play and I see through it a lot.

its normal to look for someone who is in many ways similar to yourself.

intelligence would be a big one for me, its no fun to try to talk to someone about a subject where my words just "sail over their head", so to speak.

Also, a women who is smarter than me would not be intimidating, but if she was arrogant and acted like she was so much better than me because of it, than I would just get pissed.
