Is it normal that i think girls who like older guys are in fact immature?

I met a friend of a friend who described herself as liking older guys because they were “more mature” and mentioned a specific guy. I’m always curious about the guy in this situation. Is *he* mature? Is he doing it for young pussy? Would he like anyone who was younger and into him? So I asked this person why she thought he was interested in her. She said “Oh, I didn’t care. I just knew it pissed of my father!” Funny, but perhaps not a great sign of maturity. And the thing is, I feel this way about most girls who go for older guys. In high school they were the ones to go out with college students. In college they were the people that wouldn’t date other college students. Sometimes they post questions about it here on IIN. Sure, it’s interesting to be around someone who can drink when you can’t, has had sex when you haven’t, has lived on their own, when you don’t. But in the end, doesn’t anyone who’s older than you have that? Do these people realize that eventually they’ll be envious of the people who are younger than them? I also know a couple 10 years apart who are perfect for each other, so this in not an indictment on all relationships with age differences. I'm focusing on the phenomenon of young women/girls who like older guys as a trend and specifically for their "maturity."

So what do you think?

is it normal to think that most girls who like older guys for their “maturity” are in fact immature?

Sometimes these girls can be more mature than their peers, not less mature - and this can lead them to look for partners on the same level of maturity, i.e. more mature than their peers.

(If I want to have an attractive partner, does it mean I am unattractive?
If want to have a faithful partner, does it mean I am unfaithful?
If I want to have an intelligent partner, does it mean I am stupid?
    ...etc...

My conslusion: if you want to have quality X in your partner, it does not automatically mean that you suffer from the lack of quality X in your personality)

I've always gone for older guys myself. But people have said I seem quite mature for my age. I just feel like I connect better with older guys. When I was 19, I met a guy in college that was about 9 or 10 years older than myself, and I connected more with him during an hour conversation on a bench, than I ever have with any guy my age or a couple years younger. I don't know what it is, but I just like older guys. Maybe they're easier to hold a conversation with? Not sure, but it could be a lot of reasons.

I don't think all are immature, but probably some are.

I like older guys. I like feeling more innocent/inexperienced than them. It's great to be with an older guy who has some experience in life, or is more intellectual than boys my age. Older guys are more serious in relationships, not just trying to get some ass, excluding some, of course. And they have their lives on track, which is a plus. Boys my age just suck. Enough said.

Hmm, I've been with two guys who were 6 and 7 years older than myself. I'd probably go as high as 11 or 12 years older.

Hello no, they were nothing like my dad or brother. I would not date someone my dad's age, either.

I think you are right about young women/girls being attracted to older guys who have more life experience, better finances and other things the girls are to young to have or earned at their stage of life. The desire is understandable - but to pursue someone out of your league that way is also a bit parasitical.

But it is also foolish for older guys and they get what they deserve if they fall for someone with no comparable education, career, life experience, nor means of support. So I guess it balances out.

Its personal (and somewhat natural) choice.

By an older guy wanting to be with a younger girl does not automatically constitute immaturity on the guys behalf.
Although I would agree for 'teens' that it would be due to similar maturity (ie a 15yo guy going out with a 14yo girl), since girls do mature more quickly than guys.

But once adults, I don't feel that its a lack of maturity issue for guys wanting younger girls, just sexual preference.

I find myself attracted to guys who are usually a bit older than me, but not because I think they're more mature. To be honest, I don't know why. I've just always been that way ever since puberty. I think girls like things for different reasons so I wouldn't put us all in one group.

Not too much older. Usually about 4 to 5 years.
