Is it normal that i think country music is coming back?

i thought nobody ever listened to country and ever since i was little i heard people explain their music tastes as "i like everything except country but lately people have been listening to more of it and i can actually have a conversation now about CMT awards and recent songs or albums coming out, i live in california so i dont know if thats the issue but lately country has seemed very up-beat and less depressing than it used to be and maybe people are noticing?

id like some opinions from people in other states/cities/countries, do you like country music or have u given it a try recently?

Lots of people have always liked it - didn't know it had left to make a comeback. But I don't follow it.

It is just bad pop with a southren accent. I hate the ones that brag about how country they are... like they are rappers. ugh. Such fake bullshit. Where is Johnny when you need him?

THANK YOU! Glad im not the only one who feels this way.
Classic country and early 90s rap are both awesome, but newer stuff is garbage.

There isnt too much newer rock i like either.

              Also, johnny cash ftw

it is not country anymore... It is pop. Like disco pop was not disco anymore. Real country music is dead.

I live in Louisiana, where people who listen to country and people who listen to rap will fight each other to the death if harsh words are spoken. Barely an exaggeration. But I love the hell out of Rehab's "Bartender Song".

I live in the Midwest and it's always been popular but it's all fairly even here between the genres.

I'm from England and have friends in three separate bands. One I speak to often because we're both keyboardists and have a shared history in the software we've had and keyboards we've used. He writes jingles (mainly radio, some TV) and he thinks there's an undercurrent of both country and R&B (real R&B, not the version of R&B we have today) being used to sell things and that this indicates a growing acceptance of this kind of music as alternative to chiptune, blip, dubstep, grime, and J/K-pop.

He's always doing mad projects but one that he's really serious about is country covers of classic metal. I've heard bits of a version of Seventh Son of a Seventh Son and it's actually really good.
