  • I think Detroit is where most good music and musicians originate.

I have to disagree with your choices, the #1 of all time in my opinion, from Tupelo Mississippi. The late Great Elvis Presley. IMHO,

First off you are only comparing rock bands, which is highly subjective on which is better than someone else. Also if you look at the "Rolling Stone" Top 500 Greatest Songs of all Time and top 100 greatest artists of all time you will see that a majority of the top spots are American bands. Specifically 30 of the top 50 from the top 500 greatest songs of all time and 40 of the top 50 from the top 100 greatest artists of all time are American (I don't have the time to go through all of the songs and artists in those lists).

You're only mentioning classic rock. Those are good bands, but what about any other genre and time period? I personally love Jazz and Soul music which Britain hasn't been influential in... at all.

There is a shitload of great music coming out of the UK, and it's been that way for donkey's years. However as other people here have pointed out people's tastes are all different and there is great music being made all over the world. If you go off the beaten path and purposefully seek out music from other cultures you might be presently surprised at what you find.

Pretty narrow-minded to only consider 60s/70s/80s rock to be music.

    I like Bach. German.

I like some of the current country Toby Keith, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, and the Desposito, I can't remember who sings it besides that little shit Justin beeber. I like the song just not him. That's just my likes and preferences.

  • Its an underground genre from the early 90s so few probably have heard about it. I only know about it from a video game

  • Are you familiar with Detroit Techbo? It’s very different from other genres of electronic music and it’s the only one I listen to besides Vaporwave.

  • I’m from the Appalachian, but I’ve really enjoyed my times visiting MI. I love the Great Lakes and SE MI is really diverse and has good foods.

I pity Detroit. It was once on top of the world and fell like Rome. I’ve seen of the neighborhood before the blight and the homes were so beautiful. And since you’re from west MI, I’m sure you’re familiar with the Hackley house in Muskegon.

  • The entire city (and state but that’s another topic) is underated. Plus it’s the birth place of techno and minimalism.

Funny to me that you say the UK makes great music but you can only list three good bands, none of which are currently active, and have to fill out the list with a bunch of crap.

    • I don’t think his list was crap, but I agree the relevance of British brands is outdated.

  • I would agree with all that you listed except for the stones. They sucked and Mick Jaeger can't sing to save his life

  • "And you don't seem to understand, a shame you seemed an honest man.

And all the fears you hold so dear, will turn to whisper in your ear...

And you don't seem the lying kind, a shame that I can read your mind."

Yeah, UK music is quite good, but I like music from all around.

As long as the artist(s) has/have talent, I will listen to and enjoy their music.

    • Yeah, but admit it, no other country produces the amount of great songs as the UK does.

      • In your tastes, anyway. "Great songs" is extremely subjective.

        • Not just my taste. It is actually the most popular opinion that the UK makes the best music. Doesn't really matter which country you're in.

It is a limited view. Especially when you consider the influence Elvis or black rhythm and blues artists had on The Beatles and The Stones or many of the other artists named.
You also ignore Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, Brahms, etc... So yes, your view is subjective and limited.

You’re entitled to your opinion and poor taste in music, but let the record show that you are in the fringe minority.

what about Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Prince, Janet Jackson? Lady Gaga? Eminem?

Like yeah the UK has good music but every band you listed is the same genre, not to mention a lot of them don’t even make music anymore.. Not everyone is going to agree with you.
