Is it normal that i sometimes wish my mom would have died during surgery?

So my mom had a brain tumor which left her completely different than the woman who raised me. She has VERY little sense of humor, dramatic mood swings, and is very sharp and coarse....
This is a very condensed version but is it normal that I feel like it would have been easier if she would have passed on the operating table? I feel horrible for saying that but I think that I feel worse when she says some of the things she does to me.... :(

I've read some articles about brain tumors and mood swings, and that's completely normal. It must be difficult for you to go through that, but you have to remember that the person talking trash to you is NOT your mother.
It's completely normal to feel that way, especially if she treats you so bad.

    I hope she gets better.

It may be because the tumor. It has been said in the past if you damage a certain part of the brain it can turn you violent and cruel. It has been said to be a suspicion of ancient characters in history like kind Henry.

That does sound harsh to be honest. However, if she treats you THAT horribly bad, then I guess.....maybe it's ok..just not healthy.. Maybe try seeing a family psychologist. Try and get your old mother back. It's always nice to try :/

    Hope she feels better!

It's not possible to "get my old mother back" because of the scar tissue that was caused in her left frontal lobe. I wish I could have the old mom back, I assure you. And as far as seeing a psychologist, it really wouldn't do much good...

She isn't mentally retarded...she still has a high IQ and knows what she's saying (or trying to say) even if she uses the wrong word(s) sometimes....and the reason I feel the way that I do isn't because I hate HER but rather who she isn't anymore...
But thank you so much....Mrs. Vandellay :)

Actually, mental retardation is defined by an IQ below 70, among other things like functional independence and social skills. I assume you're thinking of something like autism (which is entirely separate from mental retardation), but someone with a high IQ will not be diagnosed as mentally retarded.
