Is it normal that i scratch my scalp and pick off the dead skin under my nails?

I like to scratch my scalp and pick off the dead skin from under my nails. Sometimes I even like to smell it. It usually forms a cake under my nails and I slide it off from under my nails. I think I do this when I am not evening thinking about it! What would people think??!!

I do it too. but i don't like to collect it under my nails...i like watching the flakes fall. I stand in front of a window and watch them falling in the sunlight. Ever see Breakfast Club? I was kinda glad to see that scene, it made me know I wasn't the only freak out there to do that!!!

I do that a lot. I really need to stop before I start doing it in front of other people.
Sometimes I use the corner of a sheet of paper to collect all the skin.

My little sister had something weird with her scalp whenshe was ababy and there was an excessive amount of flaky skin that made me so excited because I would just love to pick at it haha! I can't do that to myself though because my scalp is completely flake free.

I done this off and on for years but I don't like it and I think it's weird. I mostly do it while I'm watching TV and I don't even realize what I'm doing.

I've been trying to stop completely.

I do it when I'm anxious. I try not to let anyone see. Esp after a patient asked me why I did it in front of everyone. It's probably like biting nails. Try to find a substitute.
