Is it normal that i really want to meet other people with the same music taste?

I really, really want to meet other people with the same music tastes as mine. It even went so far that when I saw someone at a convention (a cybergoth) I wanted to meet her, to compare music tastes. In the ending, I wussed out because she looked...kind of intimidating. Also, I was worried she'd be elitist b/c I don't dress like most listeners of my genre do (I dress "normal").
My music tastes are different from most everyone here....and the problem is, I'm obsessed with music.
What I'm saying is, is it normal to want to meet other people with similar music tastes so badly?

  • I wish I could find a girl that likes metal and hard rock. Every person at my school likes shitty pop and rap.

    Hiya,

I've been thrilled to meet people with the same music taste as mine before, only to find they were quite boring because that's all they talked about – I NEVER thought I’d say that! – or worse, they were absolutely horrible.

Music tastes tend to change anyway. If I'd still been in touch with said people, I bet I wouldn't be now!

If you find people who like the same music on-line it's a lot quicker and easier to cut contact if there's something funny about them.

What's wrong with going to a concert on your own?

In my case, I know there's plenty of people out there in the internets that enjoy chiptunes, there are also a great number of posers and stuff. But in my area no living soul listens to other stuff other than reggeaton and pop/club music.

Yeh, i assume you are into metal because i don't know many people that are into it either. I would love to meet some people that are into the same music tastes as me, and i do agree that alot of people listen to what i call "shit". Let Metal live on! \m/

That top comment is false in a few ways. Reagge and ska are deffinatly not as popular. I could go up to someone at school an ask if they know sublime or rancid and they'd be like who the fuck is that?

  • I want a friend thats into kpop because my fav band is probably have a concert in the US next year and I don't want to go alone. If I found someone willing to go I would jump at the chance I wouldn't even care if I didn't even like the person.

  • I don't know about real life, but it can't be that hard finding these people online.

Most people who don't dress normal in music are posers. And mostly its only internet trolls who are elitist about things like that.

I feel the same. Here everyone likes pop, reggae, reggaeton, hip-hop and ska.
I barely know people that listen to Metal-core and Death-core, and the ones I do, are posers.
