Is it normal that i really want my dad to disown me when i come out to him?

My parents are divorced, and I live with my mom and stepdad. I'm also gay. But I'm really good at hiding it apparently. I'm out to my family over at my mom's house, but not to my dad. I really don't like my dad, we are very different people. My dad also told my mom when I was little that if he has a gay son, he will beat the hell out if it (me) and disown me. It's to the point that I want to tell him that I'm gay just so that he'll disown me, I just want him to leave me alone.

    I would probably challenge him about his previous comments. I would say to him, If I were gay, what would you think of me. Would you want to whip my ass or would you want to explain that position. Ask him then if he ever knew of any guys that were gay or had that feeling about them.
    If you word if right, even if he is a asshole, you should be able to explain your position.
    Then again, if he is an asshole about you being gay, then tell him that he has a choice. Either accept or not. If not, you would prefer not to see him.

    I'd love to hear a followup story on this situation. You have my support (worth 5000 anonymous internet value units) whatever the case (for this situation based on what I know about you; I hope you'll understand I can't grant my full moral support for your life success since I don't know if you're a cannibal, necromancer, Baptist, etc).

    He better not try to literally make good on that bogus child beating threat with you now being grown (enough to construct good sentences, at least). My only unique suggestion would be to bring a good ol roll of quarters or an axe handle (no blade) or something stashed away so if he does get that idea the story can at least end with you showing it that a gay boy can whoop it's old man ass. (Incidentally, a good reason for keeping in contact might be to not miss out on the wonderful years of enjoyment watching his physical decline with age, which can be pretty funny for children at times)
