Is it normal that i prefer marijuana over medications to help me sleep?

For about 2 years or so, I've been smoking weed around 10 PM, and passing out around 11 PM or Midnight to get ready for the next day. When I wake up in the morning around 6 PM, I'm perfectly fine and began to take on the world's challenges. That being said, after using multiple medications (Most of the OTC), I noticed that I was waking up at 3 AM (after taking it around 9 PM) with cold sweats and not being able to fall back asleep. For fear of these side affects being in almost ALL non-OTC and OTC medications, I've turned to weed to help me sleep along with it's recreational use. So what do you guys think?

I would definitely use weed regularly as a sleep aid. Best sleep ever.

I have done extensive research it is quite possibly one of the best things we can do for our bodies once our brain is fully developed. Dont believe the reefer madness propaganda.

I wish we had medical marijuana here. I have severe insomnia, and any sleeping pills I have tried have made me groggy, sleep too long....but the worst is the sleep apnea. I only get it when I take pills to sleep, then I have horrible dreams about drowning and wake up all night. I never get satisfying sleep anymore. But when I smoke weed, I fall asleep quickly without tossing and turning for boring, wasted hours, and I sleep and wake normally. It drives me crazy that nothing else works for this.

They both have the same results and both have a chance of addiction. So yeah I don't see why you would not pick one of these two. You know I am curious why no one has every suggested this be used as a sleep aid. Considering how many people say it helps them sleep and relax. People try to get it legalized as a pain killer. Honestly I think if they pushed for it to replace sleeping pills it would have a better chance passing. Sleeping pills are just as bad as this stuff and people get very addicted to them.

I can most definitely say I'm mentally addicted to weed. I fear that if I don't smoke it at night, I can't sleep, and that's usually the case here. Also, weed can be used in a number of ways rather than just being a pain killer or sleep aid. But that's medicinal, here we're talking about the stuff off the streets and such, and from my knowledge, I haven't come across such type of weed that can cure my Tendonitis or any other pain that I have... unfortunately.

Well your bad sleeping habits might not be the weed. If you are addicted I cant really say. However some people dont sleep very well naturally. It could happen for a number of reasons. So it might have something to do with the weed or it might not.

If you turned to weed to sleep since you were having problems you are self medicating. If you want further information about why you cant sleep I would try asking a psychical but depending on your issue they might just prescribe sleep medication which don't always have the greatest side effects.
