Is it normal that i never want to see my ex whom i had a long term relationship

We were together for 14 years. I broke it off because I wasn't happy.... We are currently going through legal issues as a result of separation. There are no kids....

I get nervous of thinking about bumping into him. I don't know how it would pan out. I think I would just ignore him and pretend like he was a stranger. I haven't seen him in 6 months by the way. I am very much over him... But just don't know how to deal if I ever see him again?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    and how was his reaction and disposition towards the separation?

    I can completely identify wanting to ignore him and pretend he was a stranger, but given there are legal issues involved maybe if you see him, acknowledge his presence, and then go about your way? of course, way easier said than done

    I've always felt that a lot of separations are worsened and fueled by each person's demeanor -after- the splitting, rather than the events leading upto it.

    I was worried about this happening with my first long term boy friend after we broke up but (knock on wood) Ive never ran into him. Maybe he will move to another county...I would just give a small nod if I saw him and keep on moving, no need to talk but not as bad as "you don't exist" Or if you see him somewhere you can walk the other way. But I wouldn't worry too much about it as it may not ever happen.
    I think this is totally normal in fact I wonder why some people keep in contact with their exes(with no children)...I have no desire to see them at all.

    Does it have something to do with the legal issues between you? Maybe if one of you wronged the other, it would give cause for you to feel nervous about it.

    Honestly I have no real advice for you, as Im currently worried about running into my ex too. She and I go to the college and Im worried about running into he, what might be said or not said, what her actions might be.
