Is it normal that i'm very interested in murderers and war?

Like my parents say I admire murders but I'm interested in like the why and how and the psychology. Same with war. My parents think me and my brother admire and love the horrible things that they did but we don't, we're just interested. Like my mom is concerned for us because we talk about it sometimes but not all the time. Like I love to talk about WW2 or Jack the ripper. I don't know.

It’s ok to be to be interested in those things. I’ve been studying that stuff since I was 14. It’s ok to even feel bad for the killers without condoning what they have done. Just because you want to understand them and feel sorry for them doesn’t mean you are the same as them.

It.s normal. I watched like a full hour of Dahmar(the criminal) speaking about how he cut his victims and I couldn.t stop like I was under a spell idk why:))

  • Yes Normal. I'm like that.

It's only a problem if you wake up from a black out and you have a dead guinea pig wrapped in bubble wrapper, your pants are down by your ankles and there is pins stuck in your arss.

A lot of people do thats why there are a million tv shows like law and order, criminal minds, plus the nonfiction. As long as you're not so obsessed that you talk about nothing else then youre probably fine.

If you're a teen, it's probably just a phase you're going through. You're still trying to sort out how the world works, why people do the things they do, and how you feel about extreme events.

It's also common for teens to deliberately do things that they know will shock and dismay their parents, so that may be a factor too.

As a parent myself, I understand your mother's concerns.

If you and your brother were staging reenactments of the Jack the Ripper murders using neighbourhood stray cats, or planning a special forces style assault on your school, then your parents would be justified in being very concerned. But it seems that's not what's going on, so I think your mother is doing a Mom-thing and worrying needlessly. If you ever have kids, you'll probably realise that's just what parents do.

If lots of people weren't fascinated by the topics you're investigating, there wouldn't be so many books and websites about them. Maybe your mother's main problem is that her sweet, innocent little boys are suddenly very interested in things that are very grownup.

If you don't want to kill someone yourself, then it's normal. It seems like a love for certain types of history if anything.
