Is it normal that i'm terrified my best friend is going to find new friends?

My best friend and I will both be going to college in the next few months, two thousand miles away from each other. This is kind of scary to me because she helped to get me through a lot of stuff during high school and she's really more like family than anything else. A couple days ago she went to her college orientation and texted me about all the new friends she was making and how much fun she was having. It was really depressing to me and it made me feel kind of jealous because it seems like she's going to replace me...

It's normal to be scared, I've gone through similar situations when my best friends moved away, but to be honest just because you don't see each other as often or have other friends doesn't mean you can't still keep in touch. To me, best friends are those who don't have to talk all the time but each time they do there is the same old comfort and familiarity

will you dump her when you find new friends?

if no, then it's likely she won't either.
