Is it normal that i'm super competitive & always have to be the best?

Ok so basically I'm extremely competitive.

I'm a soft-spoken, quiet person but deep inside I'm extremely competitive and always feel like I have to be the BEST at everything, have to be the teacher's pet, have to be the best musician in the band, have to know all the answers.

Whenever someone acts like a know it all in one of my best subjects I get pissed inside. To be honest, I kinda like dumb people in school because they aren't competition.

I feel so bad that I'm like this... I feel like I should LIKE people who are good at the things I'm good at. But yet I view them more as a threat, as competition....

I'm a girl, and I'm more competitive with other girls.

Please let me know your thoughts.

I can relate. Lets just say I'm an Aries. As soon as you realize that you're not always going to be the best, that's when you'll feel better about it. Be honest with yourself. As long as you're getting the credit you deserve, f it.

gee, I don't know about this because I too am competitive except I dislike easy competition or as you put it "dumb people." instead I'd rather have my ass handed to me by someone way better than me than win at a cakewalk.

you don't have to force yourself to like someone who's better than you, just show respect i.e. sportsmanship. hopefully your competitiveness will mature with age.

"I'm a girl, and I'm more competitive with other girls. "

Unless they're also soft-spoken, quiet and extremely competitive?

doesn't matter is they're quiet or soft spoken, doesn't even matter if they themselves are competitive. Only if I view them as competition. I think a lot of this may be stemming from the fact that I'm really scared to graduate college. Everyone always says "work hard and you'll get a great job" but the reality is, because of so much competition in the work force, that isn't always true. I'm scared.
