Is it normal that i'm scared of ambien?

So I'm going through a rather stressful period and because of that I'm having trouble sleeping at night. So the doctor prescribed me Ambien. But then I read some crazy experiences that really freaked me out. Like people forgetting what they did when they took it; driving around in their car, having sex without knowing it, etc. So now just the thought of taking it freaks me out.

Don't listen to the morons on here trying to scare you away from Ambien. Those side effects exist, yes. You will find anecdotes. But they are very rare. I started taking Ambien a while back and have had no ill effects. If you stay up a while after taking it you probably won't remember the last 10 or so minutes before bed but it's not a big deal.

Just don't take it with alcohol or other drugs it could interact with and you'll be fine.

Sleep walking is supposed to be one of the side effects. I live on a boat. Sleep walking on a boat; not the best of ideas, methinks.

Try Neuro Sleep drink first. It's not a drug and it really works for me. Ambien sounds very risky and if you can avoid drugs which may cause horrible problems, you should!

I quite like Ambien personally. I even take it after a few drinks. Just make sure you have at lease 8 hours before you need to get up- make sure that you are in bed when you take it.

I have had to use ambien for years due to having night mares with out it as a side affect of another med. I must tell my husband, "Ok, the pill is going down now", so I won't have access to driving or buying things online after I've had my pill. I won't remember conversations in the morning, etc. BUT Ambien helps me to sleep and thus to be able to function the next day, so I'm keeping on with it. Just don't order expensive things online....

  • Ambien is not for everybody and can be very dangerous.
I tried it before and it did not make me pass out. Instead I blacked out and only know what people told me I did.
Apparently I was sleep walking in an unresponsive state. I would not talk but did attempt to drive only to hit the neighbors mailbox and just sat there in the car. I also ate a bottle of yellow jackets, probably trying to wake up. I also went in my friends bathroom while his brothers girlfriend was in the shower and began to throw cd-r's at her. Somehow I woke up at home with my car. I must have drove and am thankful I made it.

On another story my mom met a girl at the casino who has paralyzed for life due to an allergic reaction from ambian

I do not recommend anybody do this horrible drug and it should be illegal.

Ambien is about as effective as sucking cock to fall asleep, ask me how I know.

Your best bet to treat sleeplessness - hook yourself up with a bottle of melatonin and possibly some Bob Marley Mellow Mood Tea (they sell it at the 7/11 in rasta colored bottles), the stuff is delicious and it knocks me out every time like no sleeping pill has. Turn off all of the lights, the TV, everything in your room, turn the alarm clock around (seeing what time it is only increases your anxiety and decreases the chances of you falling asleep), relax and drift. This is the only thing that works for me when I REALLY can't sleep.
