Is it normal that i'm not that keen on italian food compared to other cuisines?

I will eat Italian food if I go out to a restaurant or something, but if I had to choose a restaurant to go out to, I wouldn't really pick Italian.

Italian food can be very nice, but a lot of it seems generic and almost bland to me. I also don't really like pasta.

However, I like pizzas and salads; and I LOVE things like olives, sun-dried tomatoes and capers.

Most Italian food outside of Italy is pretty bland. Find a good restaurant that serves real Italian food, or try freshly-made pasta (meaning it's made and served, not dried and then cooked). You'll be amazed at the difference.

I'm the UK so I don't have Olive Garden, but I'll keep that in mind.

Go to ZiZi's. Their Italian food is delicious. They have the best cappuccinos and gelato. There was another I went to and it was near a hospital (I think is was Victoria something). Anyway, the spaghetti at that restaurant was scrumptious.

If you can't find either, try making the pasta at home.

I think I went to Zizzi's with my boyfriend on our first date... but that was at least 3 years ago and the last place I went to was Bella Italia for my birthday.

I think I can guess the branch you went to, but I won't say it in case I give your location away.

I'll keep them in mind, though, thank you.

Sooooo glad someone else feels the same way I do!! All my friends are always like, "Let's go out to a nice Italian restaurant," and I'm like, "But why? They're expensive and the food's soo unhealthy!" All that starch and fat, and then the bill's equal to my weekly grocery budget. No thank you.

It's normal. We all have different tastes and dislikes. I hate my country's cuisine (american), but I like French, Italian and Chinese cuisine.

You just need to have some real Italian food. Olive Garden does not count.

Same as Miss Sorel. I love Italian food. And Indian and Chinese food. However, I really can't bring myself to like Thai food. Just a personal thing.

i have noticed that a lot of pastas in restaurants are very bland but i am used to genuine italian food cooked at home by my grandma and mum.
how about getting some recipes and spicing them up a little to suit your own taste....

  • It's normal, we all have our preferences. I would rather go to an Italian restaurant, in a complete opposite notion to your own.
