Is it normal that i'm for sure gonna eat that rice?

I help my friend host a children's activity class every Wednesday at the library. This time we filled festive socks with rice to give to teachers and parents, and each of us got a sock to take home. Last time we made snow globes so it's not always easy, and no one seemed bored because of the giant vat of rice to pour which was fun even for me. I asked this is it normal because I plan to eat the rice in my sock when I get tired of using it as a warmer. We didn't scoop the rice with our hands and no one coughed. I don't want to waste it.
