After the shootings in Newtown, CT is looks as if Obama is finally going to ban all the guns.
I'm excited about this. You see, I'm a serial rapist. I've been raping women (and some men) since I was 12 (I'm 28 now.) On a couple of occasions though, I've had a gun pulled on me by a prospective target. Luckily, they didn't shoot. I could have DIED!
Now, America's going to become a society like England by 2016, where nobody has a gun and I can safely enter people's houses at night... I'll be able to sue the homeowner if I trip and hurt myself (because the bastard didn't make his/her home burglar-safe!) and they won't be able to legally fight back at me either. Even if they hit me with a bat THEY'LL do a long stint in prison for assault while I'll be back out on the street in a couple weeks, raping new victims and having a gay old time (especially if I choose a boy as a victim that night!)
I'm about to have a LOT of fun over the next few years! I'll be one of society's KINGS! Is it normal, that I'm so excited?

    Yeah. I guess what your saying is funny, but if the government confiscates all guns, it's not about small time robbery, assault and rape. I would be afraid of the government exploiting their newly consolidated power.

    The thing people need to realise about banning guns, is you're not taking them out of the hands of bad people. Just law abiding citizens who probably wouldn't do this shit anyway.

    Did you see him give that speech after the school shooting, he was so fake it was horrible. He wiped dry tears from his face, and everyone seemed able to tell.

    I used to think "ok, he can't be worse than bush" but fuck, that was appalling acting and fucking disgusting.

    On the gun point, it won't matter, guns will always be around for those who want them. It's like the law on weed, non existant in the first place because whoever wants it gets it anyway.

    It's not like the kind of people walking around poppin' caps are going to declare their firearms to the state in the first place.

    The law doesn't prevent crime, it cleans up after.

        Oh, absolutely. And often not even very well concealed behind the scenes. America adopts a laissez-faire attitude to business (which I don't necessarily disagree with, apart from the extent of it). Consequently, the business community has more power than in other countries. Say what you like about left-wing policies, business doesn't like them because paying decent wages and having provisions such as health care are bad for competition.

        When you hear Americans talk about socialism, it's almost like talking about the devil. Nobody really knows what it is apart from it's a "bad thing". Which sometimes it is. But the second red scare and McCarthyism were a very public and controversial (almost fascistic) stance. You wouldn't get away with that today, but the real position (in private) may be even worse. The FBI is a traditionally right-wing organisation (despite itself having grown concerns about terrorism from right-wing, conservative organisations). The FBI destroys business in America's international trading partners and I'm not sure that's anything like its remit, but becomes so when most lobbyists support it.

        The closest America got to not being controlled by conservatives was during JFK's tenure, and look what happened to him.

          I'm 250 pounds of solid muscle, and I only go after petite women, and smaller men.
          What chance do such people have against me? I just beat them silly if they say no, and THEN rape 'em. I especially like sneaking into the homes of couples. I like to beat the guy into a pulp and handcuff him to a bedpost, and then rape his girlfriend/wife while he watches... I've done that twice now. The 2nd time though, they got a pistol out of a closet, and I barely got away (that's one of the times I almost got shot!)
          Without a gun, my victims are helpless against a guy like me. Go Obama, go!

    I don't know much about what Obama will be doing about the issue, but people saying guns do not help, there have been plenty of times where people, random people, with guns shoot and kill people that were about to go on a shooting spree (when they seen them with loaded guns on the street).

    We don't need handguns, except for a few people like surveyors and prospectors who work in remote areas where there might be bears or other dangerous animals, and perhaps some special forces people.
    Long guns are a different matter.
    This idiot who killed the children just wasn't thinking. There are about 1,000 or more other, better ways to kill people if you really want to. Then you can walk away without having to blow your own head off (which can be damaging to your health and well-being).

        You don't need a handgun to kill someone in self-defense.
        If you insist on having a gun in your home for this purpose, why not a semi-automatic, high powered rifle or a shotgun?

          Most criminals have guns you do know that right?
          A handgun is sufficient to thwart someone breaking in.
          Why shouldn't the innocent citizen be allowed to protect himself and family?
          You should move to Chicago where there's tight gun control on the citizens. Do you think the thugs don't know that? Gun crime is much higher there than areas where the innocent can protect themselves.
          You gun grabbers are a trip. You only want the criminals to have them until something bad happens to you.

            The problem with your thinking is that if you want a handgun to protect yourself, then the criminals also can get handguns. Handguns are relatively easy to hide and transport.
            I would outlaw handguns altogether, except for the few people who really need them. Then I would make a simple law where anyone can shoot to kill, or kill in other ways, anyone who is in possession of a handgun. Gun collectors and museums would need to make special precautions for storage, display and transport.

    Look. The NRA is posting on IIN. The argument: a rapist boogieman is happy that guns could be banned in America so he can go on a spree and not be shot by armed citizens.

    Funny how no other wester country has that problem and few of their citizens have guns. Go figure.

      Do some research. England's violent crime rate has significantly increased since giving up their protection.

      And what about Chicago and New York City? They have the strictest gun control but based on the statistics someone forgot to tell the criminals they can't have them.

        The UK has among the lowest firearms related deaths in the world. US among the highest - though mainly when overtaken it is by countries where there is civil war. And what about Chicago and New York - last time anyone looked they were still in the US?

        Here's something everyone in the world gets except the gun nuts: arming every citizen makes society more dangerous - not safer. And spare me the "then only criminals will have guns" line. No - then there will be way fewer guns, illegal access on the streets will be limited to prices trigger-happy thugs can't afford and only the people who should have them will (police, armed forces).

          I'm debating, don't take things so personally.
          Chicago and NYC have the strictest gun laws yet the most gun crimes/death in the US. Whenever citizens can't protect themselves with guns the criminals get even bolder.
          Prices may get high on the black market but criminals will always be able to get guns and they don't always pay for them.
          You know dictators like Hitler take the citizen's guns.

            My mistake to personalize.

            Whether Chicago and NYC have strict controls or not will not matter as much if one can go anywhere else in the state or a nearby state and easily acquire arms. I expect these cities have a lot of gun crime and are making a political statement with controls to stand up to the lucrative gun lobby.

            Nor can I think of any other politically stable country where citizens need or feel they need to have guns to protect themselves from criminals or their government. Police are paid to keep the peace and enforce laws - not a bunch of gun-toting yahoo vigilantes. And there are plenty of dictatorships and undemocratic countries where the citizens are armed to the teeth. We live by the ballot - not by the barrel - in democracies.

              Police only show up after the fact like tommythecat said. They don't prevent any gun related crimes.

              Ok here's a hypothetical: Lets say you have a family including teenage girls and you hear someone break in your home. And the criminal has a gun because they can get them whether legal or not.
              Do you want to beg him not to steal, kill, or rape? Would you rather just let him take what or who he wants? Or would you prefer to show him it was a mistake breaking in your home?

              When it hits home people choose to protect themselves.
