Is it normal that i like to use the search bar before submitting stories/polls?

Months ago, when I first came to this site, before posting my story I read the side-bar in which the conditions of the story and usage of the posting feature were clearly spelled out. I stopped in the middle of my typing, opened up a new tab and searched some basic terms of my question and viola! It had been answered months prior to my arrival thus saving me the effort!

Every time I have a question that is it normal might be able to answer, my first instinct is to use the search bar and if the question hadn't been asked before (or my key terms show up no results) then I ask the question. Often times, the question has been asked MULTIPLE times throughout a period of months thus giving me more answers than simply relying on my own post to give me would!

One of my favorite features on this site is the search bar. Is it normal that I use the search bar before asking a question?

    Actually, that's a great idea! You save yourself so much time and could possibly find the answer you're looking for without even posting your question! I may try that out...thanks!

    And a very good thing to do too. I do it as well. It avoids unnecessary repetitions of questions and advice.

    On the website you don't need to. When you're submitting a story, a little dynamic area pops up in the top right and says something like "Has your story been submitted before?" and then lists about ten stories that are potentially like yours.

    I don't know how much more TheManagement can do if people can't see what is right in front of their eyes.

      Oh yes, I notice that too but I don't rely on them completely. I still like to double check.

    Yeah, I use the search bar all the time. I hate being OP and it's great when other people have already asked the question before and you have your answer in the conment section, rather than having to wait for people to comment on your post. Also, I just like old posts.

        Considering how many people redo the same bloody post 100 times over this is often someone suggests. You are the only one who actually took it. I am sure everyone on the site appreciates it. I am sure many here are annoyed hearing the same set of questions 100 time that they just answered.
