Is it normal that i know a virtual hermit?

He's an older guy that lives far out in the countryside. I'm not sure but he seems to own a lot of land. He has family who come to check on him and I sold him an old mustang, but strangely, he hasn't been off of his own property in over 10 years. I asked why and he said he is just tired of dealing with the outside world. As far as I know, his family and myself are the only people he has had contact with in over a decade. It all seems so bizarre to me that I know a virtual hermit.
