Is it normal that i instinctively mistrust anyone wearing a coat and tie?

Business attire — coat and tie, etc. — seems to be generally regarded as making a person look respectable, professional, and trustworthy.

I have the exact opposite reaction. When I see someone in a suit, or even just in a collared shirt and a tie, my first impression is that they're sleazy, not to be trusted, and I'm likely to assume that they're either an asshole or an idiot or both.

Is it normal?

It is normal. Anyone who is wearing a suit and tie has already sold out their individuality to a corporation. Do not trust them.

I can't afford a suit, but I'd like to have one some day. I don't think your assumptions are normal though, no.
