Is it normal that i instantly care more about people with long brunette braids?

My little sister usually wears her hair in a long dark braid. And when I see pictures, of tragedies, like the Boston bombings, I feel terrible for them, of course. But nothing compared to when I saw this pic.

But when I saw this: http://i.imgur.com/I1dF69f.jpg

I got horrified and panicky, because that running girl with the braid reminds me of my sister, and I get so scared. She looks nothing like my sister, except the braid. But for some reason I just want to protect her.

Is that normal?

Emotion and empathy have a lot to do with it, the same way you sympathise with people that look more like yourself or others you care for. Your just a compassionate person!

I think it's normal. I respond more emotionally to certain dog breeds than to others for similar reasons. I'm in love with my sister's toy poodle, Dewey Ray, and if I see a sad looking apricot colored poodle I get very emotionally triggered.

I think it just means you're very emotionally sensitive and feel great love and attachment for her.

Kinda makes sense. An automatic emotional response to anything resembling your sister? Logical if you love her.
If I saw something that looked like my brother in trouble I'd panic as well.
