Is it normal that i have these weird, non-sexual fantasies?

Warning, long post. TL:DR summary is at the bottom. Some of this might be disturbing or offensive, so proceed with caution.

For the past couple of years, I've done a lot of fantasizing about this certain kind of situation. The nature of it isn't sexual, and doesn't turn me on in the least. Instead, it gives me this weird emotional high that I don't know how to explain. It also never involves myself, only fictional characters. It's pretty addicting, and I'm wondering if this is any sort of normal or not.

There are four main ingredients that go into these fantasies:

1. A D/s dynamic with a reluctant dominant and a forceful submissive. The submissive character (who is generally female and related to the dominant character, with no sexual relationship) is throwing herself at the dominant's feet and practically begging for commands. The Dom's word is law, and she goes to ridiculous extremes trying to follow it and please the Dom. Meanwhile, the Dom feels very weird and awkward about the whole thing, and because they genuinely care for the sub, they are constantly trying to get her to "snap out of it." For example, a girl living in a household that values good grades submits to her parents. She spends all of her free time studying and then has a breakdown when she gets a B on a test, fearing that her parents will be angry. Her parents then spend a whole evening trying to talk her down and convince her that they're not mad.

2. Heavily warped priorities. The "sub" character always values one or more strange things over everything else. These things are almost always connected to the dominant figure, and is derived from trying to please them. The sub's level of obsession with these things overpowers her self-preservation drives, leading her to put herself though massive amounts of torture to obtain or maintain those things. For example, a homeless runaway girl spending all of her time, energy and money trying to protect a Bible given to her by the dominant character and memorize every word of it.

3. Religious themes. I'm an atheist, but Christianity is canon within these fantasies, with a few modifications. The sub character always thinks she's committed some horrible sin (usually against the Dom), and prays obsessively. She is under the impression that God hates her, and often believes that she is a demon (and sometimes is). Her obsessions mentioned in point 2 usually have to do with following the rules in the Bible. Finally, the submissive character is usually a supernatural being in a human body, as a way of explaining her abnormal behavior. (And so I can put her though more pain before she's dead. Har har. >:D )

4. Lots and lots of pain. Emotional pain is the main event, especially guilt, longing, and overwhelming desperation. The submissive is usually separated from the dominant by extreme circumstances, which is why she becomes so desperate and obsessive. There is also a good deal of physical torture, starvation, freezing to death, etc., which is almost always self-inflicted in an attempt to ease the emotional pain. I like to give the characters a happy ending, but once they get that happiness I quickly lose interest.

Now, I would never want this sort of thing to actually happen to someone, but I love thinking about it (and reading about it, if I have the chance). Note again that this isn't sexual. In fact, sex ruins it. What do you think?

TL;DR: I have non-sexual fantasies that involve an unusual Dominant/submissive relationship, abnormal psychology, religious themes, and a whole lot of pain.

    • :D This makes me really happy because I'm a writer and I have like 2-3 story ideas along these lines. I was worried that people wouldn't read them at all, but this poll is giving me hope.

Have faith in your abilities and go for it.

I second the idea of this becoming a story. I think it could be very interesting for an atheist to write a story where the bible is canonical. You could toy with the idea of the sub being an angel, thus being a slave to the will of god and struggles with their servitude because of seeing humans able to exercise free will, or something like that.

  • Nah it's not so weird. I fantasize about this one situation over and over again as well. While your "ingredients" don't appeal to me specifically, you like what you like!

I have daydreams about certain characters in specific, non-sexual situations too. My themes are a lot different than yours though. I used to feel weird about daydreaming about characters in specific situations all the time, but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one!
