Is it normal that i have sexual desire for my friend?

I'm a woman and my friend is a woman as well. We been best friends for a while now. We usually hang out, in high school I started feeling something towards her, it's very weird so I stop talking to her. Then after high school she contacted me first to hang out again and there it was again. This feelings for her came back. Like whenever she told me so and so broke her heart I felt sad. What's weird is, is she's the one who's always holding my arm and touching my hair. I been having sexual thoughts about her and I don't know how to stop these feelings. How can I continue being her friend without ruin our friendship. I do wonder if she feels something too but I would never risk our friendship like that.
