Is it normal that i have only ever had one nightmare and it was about this?

Alright. It started with me sitting in a room. normal. then my mom was beside me. she said my name like she was trying to get my attention. I looked at her and asked "What?"
she was totally oblivious that i even talked. she said my name again with more emphasis like she was saying "No,you don't get it" not like she thought I didn't hear her. this went on for a while. everytime I asked "What? Mom, what is it?" she would just say my name with more emphasis. when I woke up I was shaking and really scared. But it didn't really seem like a nightmare to the people I told it to to them. It just freaked me out and even when I think about it now it still scares me. Is that weird?

It seems that my mom was trying to tell me something like "No, you're not listening to me. You don't get it." in the way she was saying my name.

The "only ever had one nightmare" part, yes, completely. I've had two in my life out of a total of five dreams. I just never have them. As far as the dream itself, it's probably normal. We all have crazy dreams sometimes, most of the time actually.

perhaps it means something, there are nightmares and dreams like that some times. i have had one or two. maybe it means that your mom want to be closer with you, since it seems to me that how she was saying you name as if to say i am here please dont ignore me. you know try paying more attention to you mom and see how things go, its just one of those weird things you know?

Sounds like you had a night-terror kid. Yes in some cases it is normal, but if you start to have more i suggest you talk to your doctor. Night terrors can be extremely terrifying. I actually slapped my brother across the face before because i thought he was a monster in my dream but in reality he was just trying to wake me up from my nightmare. :'( sorry bro.

night terrors are different, i have researched things like this, people who have night terrors usually dont wake up until the next day, where nightmares, people snap out of it and wake up when its over which can be when ever in the middle of the night or in the morning

How stressful or frightening a dream is doesn't always have that much to do with the actual contents of the dream. I once had a nightmare that I saw my cat in the yard, then went through a door, and she was on the other side of the door. I don't know why that terrified me in the dream, but it did.

Sometimes things in dreams are unsettling or frightening in ways that are difficult to explain. I think it's normal to have nightmares like that.
